Our club decided to put in an entry for the Runway Challenge at the National Festival in April this year. Our remit was to design and create an outfit with a theme of “Gold” reflecting the 50th anniversary of Creative Fibre. Here’s the description of the challenge:
The Creative Fibre Group Runway Challenge is an ongoing twelve month project that began at our national education event, First Light Fibres, in May 2018. It is based on the popular TV series Project Runway combined with the slow movement concepts, which focus on locally sourced materials and the use of traditional skills (Creative Fibre New Zealand Read more here )
We designed an outfit, sourced fibre from amongst ourselves, purchasing some as well, and a number of people have been working on the outfit over the summer break. We cannot reveal details until the unveiling at the festival but it is looking good at this stage. Quite a few of our club members have volunteered and taken part in the project. We are using the varied skills of our club members.
We look forward to sharing it with everyone and representing our club at the national festival.
